Artist Statement:

Jonas Cohen is a French New Yorker artist who works mainly in the realm of sculptural furniture. He brings his sense of humor and affection for food and nature by creating products that are designed to bring people together around furniture. Turning puns into funny functional objects, Jonas brings out natural qualities in found and curated materials in order to coax a smile or two from his audience. He strongly believes that approachable, comfortable and humoristically comforting furniture is the ultimate form of public art as it is meant for anyone to appreciate with their eyes, body, and loved ones with out a second guess. Conviviality and humor is at the center of his work all while ensuring comfort and function in a household.
